International Conference "Responsible Business for Ukraine's Recovery: A Path to Sustainable Investment and European Integration" to Take Place in Kyiv This October
On October 16, 2025, the international conference "Responsible Business for Ukraine's Recovery: A Path to Sustainable Investment and European Integration" will be held in hybrid format (Kyiv and online).
The event is organized by the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The conference will bring together leading experts, government representatives, business leaders, and international organizations. Participants will discuss strategic approaches to attracting responsible investment and implementing international corporate sustainability standards.
In the context of Ukraine's post-war reconstruction, the principles of responsible business conduct and human rights due diligence (HRDD) have become critically important. With the adoption of the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), these principles are becoming legal obligations for European companies and their Ukrainian partners in supply chains.
The integration of responsible business standards into reconstruction and investment processes strengthens Ukraine's position in the global economy, advances EU membership prospects, and creates a business environment with minimized risks to human rights and the environment.
The event program will include plenary sessions featuring Ukrainian government leaders and international experts discussing the strategic role of responsible business conduct in reconstruction, investment attraction, and European integration processes.
Panel discussions involving representatives from government, business, financial institutions, and civil society will cover topics including: stakeholder engagement and protection of vulnerable groups' rights; the role of responsible investors in the recovery process; green financing and climate-resilient reconstruction; practical approaches to implementing HRDD in corporate governance and supply chains.
A high-level concluding discussion will define strategic guidelines for Ukraine's development on its path toward the EU and global economic integration.
Participants are invited from state and local government bodies, enterprises and business associations, financial institutions and investment companies, civil society organizations and trade unions, research institutions, and international organizations.
Event co-organizers include Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University, the Green Transition Office at the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine, and the NGO "Social Action Center." International partners are the Danish Institute for Human Rights, the Raoul Wallenberg Institute, SwedWatch, and the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on Corporate Sustainability and Human Rights (Wageningen University). Information support is provided by the Responsible Development Office and the Association of Environmental Professionals (PAEW).
The conference aims to promote responsible business conduct as a key element of Ukraine's post-war economic strategy and create a dialogue platform between Ukrainian stakeholders and international investors regarding alignment of practices with UN and OECD norms and EU regulations.
The event will serve as a key platform for determining pathways to integrate corporate responsibility principles into recovery processes, attract sustainable investment, and advance Ukraine's European course.
Detailed program information will be announced separately.
