The European Commission has published a draft amendment to the technical criteria of the EU Taxonomy for public consultation

The European Commission has published a draft amendment to the technical criteria of the EU Taxonomy for public consultation. The main objective of the proposed changes is to simplify the identification and reporting of sustainable economic activities by enterprises.

The changes cover most of the activities specified in the Climate and Environmental delegated Acts in the following sectors:

  • forestry and environmental protection
  • manufacturing
  • energy
  • transportation
  • construction

The proposed changes also simplify the general requirements for compliance with the “Do No Significant Harm” principle, which will significantly facilitate the use of technical criteria in other sectors of the economy and economic activities as well.

Why is this important in the Ukrainian context?

The full implementation of the EU Taxonomy in accordance with EU practice is one of the numerous requirements of the European integration process and the implementation of the EU acquis. The Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine and our team are working on developing the relevant regulatory acts. Upcoming changes to the technical criteria will improve the usability and applicability of the EU Taxonomy in the national context.
